Date:2014/9/9      View:3643
Petroleum giant BP is potentially facing billions of dollars in new fines. A New Orleans judge has concluded the company acted with "gross negligence" ahead of the massive 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The judge has ruled BP is two-thirds responsible for the Deep Water Horizion blowout. The rig's owner, Transocean, has been deemed 30 percent responsible. Oil services company Halliburton, which was responsible for ensuring the safety of the well, has been deemed three percent responsible. Halliburton has already agreed to pay more than 1 billion US dollars in fines for its negligence.
